New York, NY (August 26, 2019) – Wunderkind today announced the 12 winners of the 2019 Equality Impact Awards. Launched in 2018, the awards honor the contributions and leadership of women and allies that are changing historically, and often notoriously, unequal industries.
The awards are given to both women and allies in tech, retail and publishing who are breaking glass ceilings, fighting for equal pay, championing diversity and inclusion and ensuring that the workplace is better for themselves and those who come after them.
“It’s important to highlight the work that people like the Equality Impact Award Winners are doing in the industry,” said Ryan Lathrum, Director of Community & Inclusion at Wunderkind. “We still have a long way to go in terms of achieving true equality, but there are people out there making a difference and fighting for more just, inclusive workplaces every day. This is our way of honoring them and putting them in the spotlight, where they belong.”
Wunderkind will be hosting a public event at their New York City headquarters on Wednesday, August 28 to celebrate the winners. The evening will also feature a panel discussion between Carmela Cugini, EVP of Sales at Bowery Farming, Samantha Katz, CEO and Co-Founder of Left Tackle Capital, and Krystle Mobayeni, CEO and Co-Founder of BentoBox. Space is limited, so RSVP today to claim your spot.

The winners were selected by leadership from Wunderkind’s Employee Resource Groups, employee-formed internal organizations focused on increasing engagement, professional development, business impact and allyship.
“Choosing our 2019 winners was both fun and challenging. With a large pool of incredibly qualified nominees, we had to be really selective,” explained Lathrum. “These 12 represent a truly outstanding group.”
In addition to their award, the 2019 winners will receive a $100 donation in their name to Girls Who Code, a nonprofit organization aiming to close the gender gap in technology and increase the number of women in computer science. Wunderkind will also contribute a matching donation for each winner.
Congrats to the 2019 winners, and stay tuned for interviews with each of the winners, which will be posted to the Wunderkind blog over the next few weeks.
